Buttons & Interface

While most of the remote buttons in this app are obvious, there are some additional buttons provided.  Below is a brief introduction to them.

Short (normal) press toggles power.  In the PRO version, a long-press lets you specify Power ON or Power OFF and you can also send it only to the current DirecTV receiver, the TV/AVR associated with the current receiver (via Volume Plugin) or all networked receivers.

(PRO ONLY)  The power state of the current receiver is reflected through the power button’s color.  Green is ON and dark red is OFF.  The lighter red color above is used for IR-controlled DirecTV receivers or if the power state of the current network-controlled receiver cannot be established.

Displays ‘On Now’ (show/music info) or the Mini-Guide.

Press this button to create and access favorite channels.

(Mid-size remote only)  Pops up the numeric keypad for direct channel entry.

(PRO ONLY)  Built-in macro to turn Closed Captioning on.  If you create a macro with the name CCON, this button’s behavior will be replaced with your custom macro.  For example, you can opt to have this turn on DirecTV Subtitles instead.

This is a custom macro (available in Free and Pro) that activates Slow Motion.  To do this on your real DirecTV remote, press and hold the Play (>) button for approximately 3 seconds.

(PRO ONLY)  Press this button to create and access custom macros!  Macros are a series of commands that are sent to the receiver at the press of a button.

(PRO ONLY)  Press this button to bring up the Search Assistant.  This allows you to enter text using your Android device’s built-in keyboard or the app’s custom keyboard and sends it as a special macro to DirecTV search fields!
