Tip:
To ensure ongoing reliability when controlling your TV or AVR over your network, it is strongly recommended that you use static IP addresses or DHCP Reservation for your TV or AVR. If the IP address changes then you will need to change the IP address in the plugin in order to make it work again. In fact, using static IP addresses or DHCP Reservation is recommended anyway as this will ensure that the main DirecTV Remote+ app will work without any issues for years to come.

¹ Controlling volume from a phone or tablet requires either an Android device with a built-in IR blaster or a compatible TV or AVR that can be controlled over a network. Both of these are rare, and as such, unfortunately volume control will only work for a small number of lucky people. Even if your phone/tablet does not have IR and your TV cannot be controlled over a network, there is still one more way of controlling volume but it requires a special IR-to-network device. It is called iTach and is made by a company called Global Caché. These devices are fully supported in the Volume Plugin and will allow any Android device to control power and volume on any TV!
² This Volume Plugin app will still allow you to configure and test with your Android device as well as your TV or AVR even if only the free version is installed. If volume control is critical to you then it is highly recommended that you see if the plugin will work before purchasing the Pro version of the main DirecTV Remote+ app. If you cannot get it to work while testing from the plugin app itself (as you are setting it up) then purchasing the Pro version will not make it magically begin to work.
The only difference between using the Free version and using the Pro version is this: Either way, you can test volume controls from directly inside the Volume Plugin app. However, volume buttons in DirecTV Remote+ Free do not function. They only function in the Pro version.
